Collection: Phulkari

The traditional embroidery of the Punjab (an area encompassing parts of northern India and eastern Pakistan), phulkari (literally, 'flower work') is worked in a simple darning stitch from the reverse side of hand-woven cotton cloth, usually dyed terracotta red or indigo blue. Vibrant floss silk (loosely twisted spun silk thread) is used to create a lustrous effect.
